Are you ready to build a new home but don’t quite understand the process. You are in the right place. This page will help you gain a better understanding of what happens once you decide you want to build. But the better news is that we will walk with you and answer all your questions through the entire process. We want you to be comfortable, confident, and excited about your new home. After all – this is where you will LIVE.

We have put together a bullet list of a basic house build. Any item/s can change and the order may change depending on the situation. Each home build is unique. That’s what makes it yours. This is why we take the time to care for each client and their particular needs.

  1. You purchase your own land.
If you don’t have land yet, we work with Real Estate Professionals that can help you find land that is suited specifically for you.
  2. Create House Plans.
You may have plans or ideas already. We can work with that. If you don’t, we will sit down with you and discuss your wants and needs in a home. Some of these items include square footage, number of bedrooms, functionality, and styles. Once we have an understand of what you want, we will either draw up completely custom plans for you or take an already created house plan and modify it. We use many house plans from Architecture Digest.
  3. Budget.
Once we have house plans, and before we begin to select interior designs, we need to have a budget in which to work.
  4. Construction Loan.
After the budget and house plans, it’s time to get the construction loan started. If you don’t have anyone you use, we have people we work with that we recommend.
  5. Selections.
This part is exciting! It’s time to chose items such ast counter tops, flooring, windows, exterior materials, tile, and lighting.
  6. Permits.
While very boring, this is an important – and sometimes slow – process. We must obtain permits from the county/city for septic, stormwater, building, and others. We can’t move forward until this process is complete.
  7. Start the Build.
Here we go. It’s time to actually build the home. There is a process alone within this step. First, we build/pour the foundation. Next comes the framing and window install. After windows, we do the plumbing and electrical rough in. And then comes the roof and the exterior (brick, hardie board, stone, etc.). Once the house is contained from weather, we move to insulation and get the framing inspection. After we get the ok on the framing inspection, we begin to install drywall. Coming up on the tail end of the build is the trim work, paint, tile, cabinets, and finally flooring. Once all of this is installed, we go back through for final paint and finishes (lighting installs, mirrors, etc.
  8. MOVE IN.
This is the step we have been waiting for. The day you move in to your home where you will live.
